Robert Jarowoy

Robert Jarowoy (born December 15, 1952 in Moosbach ; † September 21, 2020 in Hamburg ) was a German author and politician of the Die Linke party .

Life

Jarowoy was born in 1952 on a poultry farm in Gauchsmühle in what was then the municipality of Moosbach near Nuremberg . From 1970 he studied philosophy and history. From 1973 to 1979 he served a prison sentence as a “violent anarchist” in connection with the June 2 movement , including four years in solitary confinement . From 1980 he was in Ottensen resident / Altona and worked as an initiative activist (Kemal-Altun-Platz, Bismarckbad , People's Park , Altona Museum u. A.), Internationalist (focus Kurdistan), Chairman, Tariff Commission in the HBV / Verdi . In 2002 he joined the PDS , from 2008 he was a member of the Altona district assembly and until 2020 the parliamentary group leader of the Left Party. He was also chairman of the committee for economy, labor and regional district development and a member of the urban planning committee. Most recently he was a member of the building and planning committees.

From 1995 to 2004 Jarowoy was managing director of the Stadt-Land-Genossenschaft (natural food wholesalers) and from 2006 organic cheese dealer in cooperation with a vegetable crate subscription.

He was also the author of several Altona crime novels in which local politics, love and murder play central roles.

Jarowoy succumbed to cancer on September 21, 2020 in his apartment in Hamburg-Altona.
