Robert Kaiser (* 1979 ; † October 23, 2000 at Zeitz ) was a German cyclist who competed in races on track and road .

Athletic career

In 1996 and 1997 Robert Kaiser was junior vice world champion in the team pursuit . He started for the SSV Gera and the TEAG Team Köstritzer and was part of the Thuringian track cycling team. In 1997 he took third place at the German championships in the single pursuit and in the points race . In the same year he won the Trofeo Karlsberg . He was Bundesliga winner in 1997 and 1998 and won a medal at the Goodwill Games in New York in 1998 . In 2000 he became German runner-up in the team pursuit with Christian Bach , Eric Baumann and Sebastian Siedler . He belonged to the national railway team of the Federation of German Cyclists .

Because of his successes, Robert Kaiser was awarded the gold badge of honor in 1997 by the city of Gera for his sporting achievements.

On October 23, 2000, Kaiser had a motorcycle accident near Zeitz; he died at the scene of the accident, as the sports director of the team, Gerald Mortag , reported.

A memorial wall in the Bike House Weiser on Heinrichstrasse in Gera commemorated Robert Kaiser .
