Robert Kennedy and His Times is based on the novel of the same name by Arthur M. Schlesinger, Jr. and tells the story of Robert F. Kennedy . The story begins in 1946 when Robert F. Kennedy supports his brother in the campaign headquarters. He met his future wife, Ethel Shakel , a year earlier. The series ends with the murder of Robert F. Kennedy at the age of 42.

Robert Kennedy and his Times is based on a biography by Arthur M. Schlesinger, Jr. and was filmed in Boston in January 1984. On January 27, 1985, the series was broadcast on the American television channel CBS. Brad Davis took on the role of Robert F. Kennedys. Cliff De Young played John F. Kennedy. Shannen Doherty , Jason Bateman and River Phoenix appeared in smaller roles. In 1995 the series was released on VHS in the United States. It was released on DVD in 2011. At the time of broadcast, the Kennedy family was very important to Americans. Rose was still alive, Edward was still a prominent Senate, and Jackie O was still making the headlines. John grew up to be a man and Caroline wanted to get married. The Kennedy family was respected and fascinated by them. This can also be seen in the film, which portrays the Kennedys very positively.
