Robert Leicht (born May 16, 1849 in Schwäbisch Hall , † December 21, 1921 in Vaihingen on the Fildern ) was a German brewer and entrepreneur . As the owner of what would later become the Schwabenbräu brewery in Vaihingen, he was also known for his inventions in the field of technical innovations for brewery systems.

Life

After his training, Robert Leicht worked in Carl Widmaier's Möhringer brewery from 1871 . In 1873 he married Fanny Amalie Widmaier (1853–1939), a daughter of his boss. In 1878, with financial support from his father-in-law, he acquired the Vaihinger restaurant “Zum Ochsen” and founded the Robert Leicht beer brewery (“Schwabenbräu”) there.

In 1884, one of the first dynamo machines in Württemberg to generate electrical light was used in the Vaihingen brewery, and in 1886 the first cooling and ice machine. The first pneumatic malt house followed in 1892 and in 1896 a coal transport system with automatic boiler underfiring. In 1897 the brewery was the first in Germany to deliver its beer with a Gottlieb Daimler truck , and in 1903 the first automatic beer filling system went into operation.
