Robert Lijesen (born February 5, 1985 in Dordrecht ) is a Dutch swimmer .

Career

Lijesen's favorite distances are the 50 m and 100 m freestyle. He currently lives in Eindhoven and is trained there by former world champion Marcel Wouda .

In March 2008, at the European Championships in Eindhoven, he was twelfth in the 100 m freestyle and sixth in the 50 m freestyle. With the 4 × 100 m freestyle relay, he reached the bronze medal. In this run he had a faster run time than the series Olympic champion Pieter van den Hoogenband , who had to fight with the flu in these competitions.

At the short course world championships in Manchester in 2008 he won the silver medal in record time in Europe together with Mitja Zastrow , Bas van Velthoven and Robin van Aggele in the 4 × 100 m freestyle.
