Robin van Aggele (born July 30, 1984 in Hilversum ) is a Dutch swimmer .

Career

Robin van Aggele is considered one of the best all-round swimmers after Marcel Wouda .

Van Aggele made his first international appearance at the 2004 European Short Course Championships in Vienna . The following year, at the 2005 World Swimming Championships in Montreal , he was 14th in the 200 m medley and 11th in the 400 m medley. In the same year, at the European Short Course Championships in Trieste , he confirmed his rising form when he was fourth and only a hundredth behind the bronze medalist Vytautas Janusaitis .

At the European Swimming Championships in 2006 , for which he was able to qualify, he did not appear because he felt too tired because of the hard training. At the European Short Course Championships in Helsinki in 2006 , he won his first international medal when he won the bronze medal in the 4 × 50 m freestyle relay.

The following year, at the 2007 European Short Course Championships in Debrecen , he won the bronze medal with the 4 × 50 m individual relay.

In March 2008, at the European Championships in Eindhoven , he started poorly, but was able to convince over 100 m butterfly when he finished fourth with a new Dutch record. He also achieved fourth place with the Dutch 4 × 100 m individual relay relay.

Only a few weeks later, at the short course world championships in Manchester in 2008 , he won the silver medal together with Mitja Zastrow , Robert Lijesen and Bas van Velthoven in the 4 × 100 m freestyle in record time in Europe.

At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing he competed in the 200 m breaststroke, 100 m butterfly and over 200 m medley, but did not reach a final.
