Robert Pfitscher

Robert Pfitscher (born October 25, 1954 in Innsbruck ) is a former Austrian boxer and Olympic participant from 1980. He is the son of boxer Franz Pfitscher .

Robert Pfitscher was around 1.86 m tall during his competitive career and boxed at ESV Innsbruck. He was Austrian light middleweight champion in 1977 and 1978, and Austrian middleweight champion in 1979, 1980, 1981 and 1982.

At the European Championships in Halle in 1977 , he lost in the round of 16 against the later European Vice Champion Markus Intlekofer from Germany. In October 1978 he reached second place at the Tammer tournament in Finland, but had bad luck again at the 1979 European Championships in Cologne and lost again in the round of 16 against eventual European champion Tarmo Uusivirta from Finland.

In April 1980 he won third place at the Box-Am tournament in Spain and took part in the 22nd Olympic Games in Moscow , where he was eliminated in the round of 16 against the later silver medalist Viktor Savchenko from the Soviet Union. Also at the European Championships in Tampere in 1981 , he was defeated in the round of 16 against the later European champion Juri Torbek from the Soviet Union.

In 1983 he started a short professional career under the Dutch promoter Henk Ruhling (* 1920, † 2010). After three construction wins, he lost for the first time on points against the Italian Giovanni Marchesini. After a knockout loss in the first round against European champion Pedro van Raamsdonk and another knockout loss in the second round against Salvatore Di Salvatore in October 1986 , he ended his career.
