Robert Arthur Sanders, 1st Baron Bayford , PC (born June 20, 1867 in London , † February 24, 1940 ) was a British politician of the Liberal Unionists and later the Conservative Party , who was a member between 1910 and 1923 and again from 1924 to 1929 the lower house ( House of Commons ) was. In 1920 he was ennobled as a baronet and between 1922 and 1924 he held the office of Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries. In 1929 he became the Baron Bayford charged and was therefore up to his death a member of the upper house ( House of Lords ) .

Robert Arthur Sanders, son of Arthur Sanders and his wife Isabella Synge, attended the renowned Harrow School, founded in 1572, from 1881 to 1886 and then began studying at Balliol College at the University of Oxford , which he completed in 1890 with a Master of Arts (MA) . He was then admitted to the Bar ( Inns of Court ) of Inner Temple in 1891 as a Barrister-at-Law and then took up a position as a lawyer . He served as the Master of the Devon and Somerset Staghounds between 1895 and 1907 .

When choosing from 15 January to 10 February 1910 Sanders was for the Liberal Unionist Party for the first time as a member of the lower house ( House of Commons ) selected and represented in this first until December 6, 1923 constituency Bridgwater . At the beginning of his membership in parliament, between 1911 and 1915, he acted as Parliamentary Director ( Whip ) of the Liberal Unionist faction . He also served in the volunteer regiment of the Royal North Devon Yeomanry and was on May 13, 1911. Lieutenant Colonel (Lieutenant-Colonel) transported. His marriage to Lucy Sophia Halliday on August 3, 1893 resulted in a son and two daughters. Since his only son Arthur Thomas Sanders had died on November 22, 1920, his two titles of nobility expired on February 24, 1940.
