Robert Stehli

Robert Stehli (born February 2, 1930 in Zurich ; † April 3, 2018 ) was a Swiss conductor .

Life

Stehli received his musical training at the music academies in Zurich and Lübeck . In 1957 he founded the Hamburg Bach Orchestra , which he transformed into the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra after years of success by merging two other orchestras . From 1965 to 1968, Stehli also held the position of Second Kapellmeister of the Lower Saxony Symphony Orchestra in Hanover , which he conducted with major symphony concerts outside of Hanover.

Since 1968 Stehli has directed the Hamburg Mozart Orchestra he founded (now the KlassikPhilharmonie Hamburg ), with which he also made an international name for himself.
