Robert Szopa (born April 28, 1972 in Sosnowiec ) is a former Polish football player .

Career

The center forward Robert Szopa began his professional career at CKZ Czeladz and moved in the summer of 1995 to the first division club Raków Częstochowa . In the winter break of the 1996/97 season he moved to league rivals Wisła Kraków , but returned to Raków Częstochowa at the end of the season. In 1998 Szopa and his team were relegated from the top Polish league and moved to FC Gütersloh in the German 2nd Bundesliga . His only appearance in the 2nd Bundesliga had Szopa on September 13, 1998 in the 1: 2 defeat at the Stuttgarter Kickers , when Szopa was substituted on for Horst Elberfeld . With the Güterslohern he rose at the end of the 1998/99 season in the Regionalliga. During the Regionalliga season 1999/2000 Szopa was used five times for the Gütersloher before the club had to file for bankruptcy in February 2000 and was dissolved. Szopa returned to his home country and joined the second division club Włókniarz Kietrz before ending his career in 2001.
