Ulrike Ungerer-Röhrich

Ulrike Ungerer-Röhrich (* 1948 ) is a German sports scientist and university professor .

Life

She studied sports, mathematics and educational science at Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz , graduated in 1971 and then went on to study psychology at Philipps University in Marburg , which she completed in 1976. At the same time Ungerer-Röhrich worked in school from 1971 to 1974, in 1974 she worked at a facility for mental illnesses in Pittsburgh (US state Pennsylvania ), and in 1976 and 1977 she taught at a technical college for psychomotor skills.

In 1977 Ungerer-Röhrich took up a position as a research assistant at the Institute for Sports Science at the Technical University of Darmstadt , which she held until 1993. In 1984 she submitted her doctoral thesis in Darmstadt, the title was "A conception for social learning in physical education and its empirical verification". The work was awarded by the German Sports Association. After completing her habilitation in 1994 , she moved to the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg , where she worked as a professor for sports education and sports didactics. Between 1998 and 2000 Ungerer-Röhrich was head of the Institute for Sports Science. In 2000 she became professor of sports science at the University of Bayreuth (focus on sports and its organization for children and young people). Between 2000 and 2004 she was the women's representative at the Faculty of Cultural Studies at the University of Bayreuth, and from 2004 she held this position for the entire university.

Ungerer-Röhrich's research focuses, among other things, on the health promotion of children and young people in kindergartens and schools. In this regard, she worked at the University of Bayreuth on setting up a day nursery. Furthermore, she worked in the scientific fields of "education and exercise in the elementary sector", nutrition and exercise, children's gymnastics and coaching, and was involved in an investigation of the offer, membership and organizational structures of the clubs of the German Gymnastics Federation .

From 1994 she was a member of the editorial team of the magazine Sportunterricht , from 2005 to 2007 she was Vice President Education and Education and Health on the board of the German Association for Sport Science (DVS). In 2019 she was awarded the DVS Golden Badge of Honor. In 2007 she became a member of the extended board of the Platform Nutrition and Exercise eV and then held the office of chairman from 2013 to 2019.
