Robert Walker (director)

Robert Walker (born 1961 in Scarborough , Toronto , † April 1, 2015 in California , United States ) was a Canadian animator and film director .

Career

Robert Walker was born in Scarborough but grew up in Ottawa . He then attended St. Lawrence University in New York and then moved to Sheridan College in Oakville , Ontario. After graduating, he worked at Atkinson Film-Art until he moved to The Walt Disney Company in 1989 .

Walker began working for the film staff in 1985 . He has worked in television series such as Die Raccoons or The Adventures of Teddy Ruxpin as well as in the short films for Roger Rabbit ( Roger in the intoxication of frenzy and Roger on the wrong track ). He has also worked on the full-length cartoons from Walt Disney such as Beauty and the Beast , Aladdin , Mulan and Lilo & Stitch . He made his directorial debut at the 44th full-length animated film by Walt Disney Brother Bear and was awarded with co-director Aaron Blaise at the Oscar ceremony in 2004 an Oscar nomination in the category " Best Animated Film ". Andrew Stanton received the award for Pixar's Finding Nemo .

He then retired from the film business and died in 2015 at the age of 54.
