Robert Weber (born January 24, 1906 in Karlsruhe , † August 17, 1987 in Heidelberg ) was a German local politician and a member of the SPD . From 1958 to 1966 Robert Weber was Lord Mayor of Heidelberg.

Robert Weber joined the SPD in 1929. He was a lawyer by profession and had worked as a public prosecutor and judge since 1932 , most recently as president of the regional court. Robert Weber had been a member of the Heidelberg municipal council since 1956.

In 1958, Robert Weber prevailed in the mayoral election in the second ballot with 54.7% of the vote against his predecessor, CDU politician Carl Neinhaus , who did not stand as a candidate in the first ballot. An outstanding event during Robert Weber's tenure was the establishment of the city ​​partnership between Heidelberg and Montpellier in 1961. Other important decisions during his tenure were the construction of the Boxberg housing estate and the relocation of the university's scientific institutes from the old town to Neuenheimer Feld .

Robert Weber, who was considered a lover of the arts and who differed from his predecessor and successor in his more cooperative leadership style, was urged by his party not to run again in 1966. Instead, the SPD nominated Reinhold Zundel for the mayoral election , who was then also elected mayor to succeed Robert Weber. In 2000 Reinhold Zundel accused his predecessor of “communal leadership inbreeding of extreme danger”.

Robert Weber was buried in the Heidelberg Bergfriedhof . His family grave is in the (Dept. R), not far from the grave of the conductor Wilhelm Furtwängler .
