Valentin Robert Zinn (born February 29, 1995 in Filderstadt ) is a German / Swiss basketball player . He has been part of the national league team Friborg Olympic since summer 2020 .

Player career

Zinn, the son of a German mother and a Swiss father, grew up in Tübingen and played basketball in the youth department of SV 03 Tübingen. At the age of 14 he moved to the basketball boarding school in Ludwigsburg and played in the youth teams of the local BSG. In February 2013 he wore the shirt of the Neckar Giants Ludwigsburg for the first time in a game of the basketball Bundesliga .

During the 2013/14 season Zinn played for the youth development team of Bundesliga club Brose Bamberg , namely 1. FC Baunach in the 2. Bundesliga ProB and TSV Breitengüßbach in the regional league. In 2014 he was signed by the Bundesliga club Mitteldeutscher BC . In addition to appearing in the MBC shirt in the first division, Zinn also gained playing experience at the partner club of the Central Germans, the BG Bitterfeld-Sandersdorf-Wolfen 06 (regional league).

After a year with the second division club Nuremberg, Zinn went back to his hometown of Tübingen and joined the Walter Tigers.

During the summer break of 2018, Zinn was signed by the Swiss national league club BC Boncourt . He scored an average of 14.3 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.2 assists per match for Boncourt in the 2018/19 season. In July 2019, he was signed by league rival Lions de Genève . For Geneva, he averaged 6.1 points per encounter and prepared 3.1 basket successes for his fellow men. In July 2020 he signed a contract with Friborg Olympic .

National team

Zinn played in the youth field for the German national teams and in 2011 took part in the U16 European Championship with the Germans. In 2013 he was part of the German squad for the U18-B-EM.

He later decided to play for Switzerland in the men's division and was appointed to the national team for the first time in September 2017. At the end of November 2017, he made his international debut for Switzerland in the World Cup qualifier against Macedonia.
