Robert of Srbik
Robert von Srbik (born November 10, 1878 in Vienna , † October 26, 1948 in Innsbruck ) was an Austrian officer and glaciologist .
Robert von Srbik, twin brother of the historian Heinrich von Srbik , attended the Theresianum in Vienna and from 1900 the Theresian Military Academy in Wiener Neustadt . As a lieutenant of the militia he served until 1903 when military police battalion 21 in Tulln . From 1903 to 1905 he attended the General Staff Course, after which he was General Staff Officer of the 6th Mountain Brigade. From 1910 to 1912 he was a teacher at Infantry - Military Academy in Innsbruck, from 1910 he studied at the University of Innsbruck History and German Philology and a doctorate in 1914. During the First World War he served 1914-15 in the General Staff Department of the 14th Corps in Galicia and Russia, after being wounded, he was employed in the General Staff Department in Tyrol in 1915/16. 1916/17 he was division chief of staff of the Etschtal group.
After the end of the war, he retired as a colonel of the general staff and began studying geology . His main interests were cave exploration , mining history and glaciology. In 1929 he published his presentation in Vienna, overview of the mining of Tyrol and Vorarlberg , published in volume 21 reports of the medical-natural science association . This is followed by works from 1930 about the Lienz Dolomites , from 1936 about the Carnic Ridge and from 1941 about the Carinthian Karawanken and Die Margarita philosophica by Gregor Reisch († 1525) .
