Robin Meloy Goldsby

Robin Meloy Goldsby (* 1958 ) is an American pianist , composer and author .

Life

The daughter of drummer Bob Rawsthorne grew up in Pittsburgh / Pennsylvania and graduated from Chatham College . In 1980 she came to New York , where she performed as a pianist in the lobbies and lounges of the city's major hotels such as The Grand Hyatt , The Plaza , The Pierre , The Waldorf Astoria and The Sheraton Center . Her solo appearances at the Marriott Marquis Hotel became known , where she played at the opening in 1985 and then gave concerts until 1992.

In 1994 Goldsby released her first solo album Somewhere In Time . She then moved to Cologne with her husband, jazz bassist John Goldsby . Here she wrote 15 compositions for the piano, which she recorded on the album Twilight . Her latest solo album is Songs from the Castle . In addition, she composed and wrote a. a. for the singer and guitarist Peter Fessler (albums Blue Summer and Landscape Tapestry ), for Jane Franklin , Jeff Cascaro and Till Brönner .

As an author, Goldsby published the autobiographical book Piano Girl; Lessons in Life, Music, and the Perfect Blue Hawaiian, The waltz of the asparagus people and the novella Rhythm .
