Robin Packalen
Robin Packalen (born August 24, 1998 in Turku ), formerly known only as Robin , is a Finnish pop singer.
biography
At the age of ten, Packalen won the Finnish Staraskaba competition organized by Stara magazine. The following year he took part in the New Wave Song Contest in Moscow, which took place in front of a large television audience. Universal Music signed the up-and- coming singer and in the following years Robin published several videos on his YouTube channel, some of which reached six-figure hits. In 2011 the album Koodi was recorded with Finnish-language songs. The song Frontside Ollie was released in advance and was viewed about 3.5 million times on YouTube by the end of January 2012. It entered the Finnish charts at number 5 and reached number 1 in the second week . The song held the top position for a total of four weeks. The song went gold and the album, although not listed on the charts, sold more than 100,000 copies over time and went three times platinum.
This was followed in September by Puuttuva palanen , a single with rapper Brädi , who had just had a number one hit himself. Shortly afterwards, Robin's second album Chillaa was released. It rose to number 1 on the album charts and reached triple platinum status.
In 2013, Robin returned with the single Boom kah , which he recorded with rappers Mikael Gabriel and Uniikki . It was the pre-release for the album of the same name, which entered the Finnish charts at number two in October. In the same month he released the song Erilaiset , which was the official song for the Finnish Red Nose Day . When this became his second number one hit, the album also rose to the top of the chart and stayed there for seven weeks with interruptions. It was also awarded double platinum. When a remix album by Boom Kah called Boombox was released in March 2014 , it also reached number 1.
Robin's fourth studio album in four years was called 16, referring to his age . In autumn 2014 he was number 1 on the album charts for the fourth time and with the single Kesärenkaat he had his third number one hit, two more album songs reached the top 10.
In spring 2015 he had a number 3 hit with Kipinän hetki together with the rapper Elastinen . His next album Yhdessä in the autumn of the same year consisted almost exclusively of collaborations, with two songs even having other musicians named as the main interpreter. Despite two other top 10 singles, the album initially missed number 1. It was not until six months later, when a super deluxe version with a concert DVD and a new song was released, that Robin got his fifth number one. Album.
In 2017 Robin took part in Vain elämää , the Finnish version of Sing my song . He hit the charts with four cover versions: Rakkaus on lumivalkoinen by Olli Lindholm , Kymmenen kirosanaa by Irina Saari , Hollywood Hills by Sunrise Avenue and En mielestäin sua saa by Laura Voutilainen .
