Roch Pinard

Roch Pinard PC (born July 26, 1910 in Nicolet , Québec , † April 23, 1974 ) was a Canadian Liberal Party politician who was a minister in the 17th Canadian cabinet of Prime Minister Louis Saint-Laurent .

Life

Pinard completed a law degree and took up a position as a lawyer after completing it .

In the election of June 11, 1945 , Pinard was elected as a candidate of the Liberal Party for the first time as a member of the House of Commons and represented the Chambly-Rouville constituency in Québec until the House of Commons election on June 10, 1957 . During his membership in Parliament he was between January 26 and April 30, 1949 Vice-Chairman of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts.

On October 14, 1953, he took over his first government office and was until June 30, 1954 Parliamentary Assistant to Lester Pearson , the foreign minister in the 17th Canadian cabinet of Prime Minister Louis Saint-Laurent. He was then from July 1, 1954 to the end of Saint-Laurent's term on June 20, 1957 State Secretary for Canada and as such also head of the government chancellery. At the same time he acted between August 16 and November 2, 1955 as the managing minister of post.

After leaving the government and the House of Commons, he worked as a lawyer again.
