Roddy Ricch (born October 22, 1998 in Compton , California ; real name Rodrick Wayne Moore, Jr. ) is an American rapper , singer and record producer .

life and career

Rodrick Wayne Moore, Jr. was born and raised in Compton, California, a suburb of Los Angeles , but also lived temporarily in Atlanta in the US state of Georgia . He started rapping at the age of eight. At the age of 16 he produced his first beats.

His first commercial mixtape Feed tha Streets was released on November 22nd, 2017. The songs Chase tha Bag , Hoodrich and Fucc It Up were also released as singles from the project . The mixtape received positive feedback from well-known rappers such as Meek Mill , Nipsey Hussle and Mustard . He received particular encouragement from Mill and Hussle, who let the rapper appear as a guest musician at concerts. His first EP Be 4 tha Fame followed in March 2018 . The collaboration with producer London On Da Track in June 2018 resulted in the single Die Young , a tribute to the late rappers XXXTentacion , Lil Snupe and Speaker Knockerz. With the single, the artist achieved his first chart placement on the Billboard Hot 100 . The song received over 20 million streaming views on streaming platforms in a very short time. His second mixtape, Feed tha Streets II , was released in November 2018 , but only reached the Billboard 200 six months later . The release of his debut album Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial followed on December 6, 2019 and immediately reached number one on the US album charts. The rapper has been nominated several times for the 2020 Grammy Awards , including for best rap performance ( Ballin ' and Racks in the Middle ) and best rap song ( Racks in the Middle ).
