Roger Schaffter

Roger Schaffter (born December 11, 1917 in Basel , † February 13, 1998 in Delémont , entitled to live in Courtételle ) was a Swiss politician ( CVP ).

Life

Schaffter attended the "Saint-Charles" high school in Porrentruy and then studied at the University of Bern , the University of Friborg and the University of Neuchâtel . He licensed in the humanities in 1960 . After completing his studies, he first worked as a teacher in Porrentruy and from 1950 to 1954 rector of the Swiss school in Genoa. In addition, he worked from 1948 to 1950 as editor-in-chief and then as deputy editor-in-chief for the Jura libre ; he published his articles under the pseudonym "Pertinax". From 1954 to 1956 he was editor-in-chief of the "Curieux".

In 1947 he was a co-founder of the Mouvement séparatiste jurassien (later from 1951 Rassemblement jurassien ) and headed this group as general secretary and vice-president; He is therefore considered to be one of the founding fathers of the Canton of Jura . In 1979 there was a break between him and Roland Béguelin because Schaffter rejected Béguelin's politics. Roger Schaffter was on the Jurassic Constitutional Council and chaired it at the opening session on April 12, 1976. From 1979 to 1982 he was a delegate of the "Service de la coopération".

Between 1979 and 1987 he represented the canton of Jura in the Council of States and presided over the science and research committee.

Schaffter also wrote various literary works on the Jura question .
