Roitzsch and Jora were originally two places that were mentioned very late compared to the neighboring places. Ecclesiastically they belonged to the Löbnitz church, with regard to the manor to the Löbnitz manor . Roitzsch was described in a document in 1466 as a desert brand . At the end of the 15th century, Roitzsch and Jora were referred to as “big” and “little care”. At the beginning of the 17th century they belonged to the von Schönfeldt family . During the Thirty Years War both places were desolate for several decades around 1642.

Until 1815 Roitzsch and Jora belonged to the electoral office of Delitzsch . As a result of the resolutions of the Congress of Vienna , both places became part of Prussia and in 1816 they were assigned to the Delitzsch district in the Merseburg administrative district of the province of Saxony . In 1836 a joint municipal council was elected for the first time for the place now called "Roitschjora". In the course of the district reform in the GDR in 1952, Roitzschjora was assigned to the Delitzsch district in the Leipzig district. Two years later, the dam of the hollow north of the village broke through a flood. In 1962, in the Roitzschjoraer Muldenaue, the LPG “Aufbau” began for the first time with ecologically oriented road construction in the GDR.

Roitzschjora was incorporated into Löbnitz on September 1, 1973. With this, the place came to the district of Delitzsch in 1994 and in 2008 to the district of North Saxony .
