Roland Dellsperger (born June 1, 1947 - † February 6, 2013 in Bern ) was a Swiss ice hockey player who played exclusively for SC Bern in the National League A during his active career . As the only player of the City of Bern club, he won the Swiss championship five times with the Mutzen and was made honorary captain of SC Bern during his career as a player.

Career

Roland Dellsperger began playing ice hockey in 1954 with the SC Bern juniors. The striker, who was initially placed in the center position, remained loyal to the Stadtberner club throughout his career. During the 1964/65 season he made his debut on the Ka-We-De artificial ice rink under head coach Ed Reigle for the first team of SC Bern, with which he won the Swiss championship for the first time in the same season . Under coach Paul-André Cadieux he won titles in 1974, 1975 and 1977. Däusi won his fifth and final championship in 1979 under German head coach Xaver Nonsense . In total, the technically talented player played 467 games in the national league in 18 seasons. His statistically most successful season was the 1973/74 season , when the left wing scored 32 goals and was together with Michel Turler the most successful goalscorer in the league.

The playmaker with the shirt number 12 was the long-time team captain of SC Bern. Dellsperger was not a player in the body-hugging game, rather he had an excellent overview and played together in a series of attacks with the legendary SCB players Renzo Holzer and Bruno Wittwer . Dellsperger's jersey was hung under the hall roof after his career ended in 1982 and his jersey number 12 was blocked by SC Bern.

At the international level, Dellsperger made 33 appearances for Switzerland .
