Roland Traunmüller

Roland Traunmüller (born April 2, 1940 in Linz ) is an Austrian computer scientist. Until his retirement in October 2005 he was a university professor at the Johannes Kepler University in Linz . His most important research area is e-government .

Life

Traunmüller studied chemistry and physics at the University of Vienna and received his doctorate in theoretical chemistry in 1969 with the topic "On the structure and reaction of metal complexes". During his doctoral studies, he came into contact with computers at the Max Planck Institute for Coal Research in Mülheim an der Ruhr .

In 1970 he returned to Linz from Germany and worked for three years in public administration, where he was head of the administrative data processing department . Then he came to the Johannes Kepler University Linz ( JKU for short , at that time still University for Social and Economic Sciences ). In 1977 he completed his habilitation.

In 1983 he was appointed Professor of Applied Computer Science at the JKU . From 1985 he was head of the Institute for Computer Science , later of the Institute for Computer Science in Business and Administration .

He was visiting professor in Amsterdam, Bangkok, Bonn, Budapest, Graz, Heidelberg, Paris, Prague, Speyer, Turku and Saragossa. In addition, he was Vice Chair of the Information Systems section of the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP). At conferences of this association he led sub-conferences such as Telecooperation (1998) and e-Business (2002). From 1997 to 2006 he was first vice president of the Austrian Computer Society . He is also represented in the German Society for Computer Science in the field of computer science in law and administration .

Since 1959 he has been a member of the Catholic student association KÖStV Aargau Vienna in the ÖCV .

Works

Traunmüller is the author of four books and over 130 scientific articles. He is also the editor of 22 books and two journals.
