Rolf-Dieter Koch

Rolf-Dieter Koch (born February 14, 1933 in Magdeburg ) is a German neurologist and former rector of the Magdeburg Medical Academy .

Life

Rolf-Dieter Koch studied medicine from 1951 to 1957 at the Martin Luther University in Halle (Saale) . He then began his specialist training at the Medical Academy Magdeburg (MAM) in 1957, which he completed in 1963. In 1958 he received his doctorate in Halle . In 1968 Koch completed his habilitation in Magdeburg and a year later became a lecturer . In 1976 he was appointed full professor to the chair of neurology and psychiatry at MAM and appointed head of the clinic. He headed the clinic until his retirement .

From 1977 to 1979 Rolf-Dieter Koch was 1st Vice Rector and from 1979 to 1989 as successor to Hansjürgen Matthies Rector of the Medical Academy Magdeburg.

In 1958 Koch joined the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED) and was a member of the SED's district leadership from 1984 to 1989 . He was also chairman of the district committee of the League for Friendship of Nations , member of the college and technical school council of the GDR and member of the board of the Society for Psychiatry and Neurology of the GDR.
