career
Blue made his debut in the Bundesliga on August 14, 1971 in Hannover 96's dress , when he lost to FC Schalke 04 - Klaus Fischer managed a hat-trick that afternoon - in the 58th minute of the game for Horst in the Lower Saxony stadium Bertl was substituted on. In the following years he was mainly used as a substitute and as such he managed his first first division goal in the 3-2 win over MSV Duisburg on May 6, 1972, when he was able to score the 2-2 equalizer. Even in his second year with the Reds, he did not manage to earn a regular place and then left the club. Blue moved to Preußen Münster and managed with the club to qualify for the newly founded 2nd Bundesliga. Here he was a regular player right from the start and never missed a minute of the game in his first two years. In his first year in the 2nd Bundesliga he scored 13 goals this season, making a decisive contribution to the ninth place of the former Bundesliga club.
In 1977, Blau returned to the Bundesliga after a hundred games in the 2nd Bundesliga and played a season at FC St. Pauli before moving to VfL Bochum with teammate Walter Oswald . Here, too, he established himself as a regular and celebrated in 1979 with eighth place, the club's best placement in the German elite series. After over a hundred games for the club, he left the club in 1982 with a 3-1 win over FC Bayern Munich and signed a contract with first division promoted Hertha BSC . The 1982/83 season under coach Georg Gawliczek was unsuccessful and as bottom of the table, blue had to relegate his club from the House of Lords. The mission resurgence failed and blue ended his active football career in eleventh place.
