Rolf Dietrich Herzberg

Rolf Dietrich Herzberg (born February 14, 1938 in Wuppertal- Ronsdorf) is a German legal scholar .

Life

After studying (1957–1962) at the University of Cologne , Herzberg passed his first state examination in law at the Judicial Examinations Office of the Cologne Higher Regional Court in 1962 and completed the legal clerkship in the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court district from 1962 to 1966 , which he completed in 1966 with the assessor examination. His doctorate also falls in 1966. It was supervised by Dietrich Oehler ; the subject was indirect perpetration of legal or non-prohibited acting tools.

From 1967 to 1970 Herzberg received a scholarship from the German Research Foundation and from 1970 to 1971 scientific assistant at Dietrich Oehler's chair. After Herzberg's habilitation with a thesis on the subject of omission in criminal law and the guarantee principle , he was a university lecturer at the University of Cologne from 1971 to 1973. He was deputy professor in Mainz , Münster and Heidelberg .

In 1973 Herzberg was offered a professorship at the Faculty of Law at the Ruhr University Bochum , where he held the chair for criminal law, criminal procedure law and general legal theory from 1974 until his retirement in 2003.

He describes the ritual circumcision of boys as "unlawful bodily harm" and has been an ambassador for intaktiv eV since December 2016. Herzberg is married and has two children.
