Rolf Gehrcke (born November 8, 1932 in Hanover ) is a former German football player who won the German football championship as an active member of Hanover 96 in 1954 .

Career as a player

In 1946 Gehrcke joined Hannover 96 as a member. In 1952 Gehrcke came from his own offspring to the league team of Hannover 96. On April 6, 1953, he came in the game against Concordia Hamburg, which ended 2-2, at the side of Hans Krämer , Helmut Geruschke , Hannes Kirk , Heinz Wewetzer , Rolf Paetz and Ludwig Pöhler on his first league assignment for the "Reds". Although he scored a goal in the 7th minute, it was only used in the 1952/53 season. Also in the 1953/54 season he only came to three missions in which he scored two goals.

In the 1953/54 season Hannover 96 surprisingly won the championship of the Oberliga Nord and qualified for participation in the final round of the German soccer championship . In the first game of the preliminary group against Berliner SV 92 (2: 1), outside runner Willi Hundertmark was injured . The 21-year-old Gehrcke joined the team for him. With him, "96" also won the second preliminary round match against VfB Stuttgart (3: 1) and was in the final.

In the final on June 23, 1954 in Hamburg, Hanover 96 met defending champions 1. FC Kaiserslautern , whose ranks included numerous national players who were to win the World Cup a little later . Gehrcke played against Fritz Walter , the outstanding German soccer player of his time. The outsider from the capital of Lower Saxony won against the high favorites from the Palatinate 5-1 and became German football champion for the second time after 1938 . Then Gehrcke rose to the Hanoverian regular and came in the 1954/55 season to 26 games and six goals.

In total, Gehrcke played 74 games for Hanover until 1959, in which he scored 8 goals. He also came to a use in the DFB club cup in the 1954/55 season . In his last league season 1958/59, he came only to three missions. After this season he was reamateurised and then played for the amateurs of Hanover 96. He preferred to work as a freelance architect rather than a contract player in the major league, as he earned more as an architect.

Subsequent years

After the end of his playing career, Gehrcke became involved in the administrative and honorary council of Hannover 96.

Rolf Gehrcke works as an architect. He also planned the club home on Clausewitzstrasse.
