Helmut Geruschke (born April 24, 1930 in Insterburg , East Prussia ; † August 2, 2010 in Klagenfurt , Carinthia , Austria ) was a German football player and coach .

Career

From Bergedorf 85 via Bremerhaven 93 - where he had played 19 games in the Oberliga Nord in 1950/51 - the defender, called "Geiger" in Hanover, moved to Hanover 96 in 1951. On the first day of the round 1951/52 he made his debut for the "Reds" from Hanover in the 1: 2 defeat at FC St. Pauli in the Oberliga team and played 20 games for his new club in this game series. When Hannover 96 won the title in the north in the 1953/54 season by seven points and the defensive allowed only 26 goals against in 30 games, the reliable right defender completed all 30 league games. Geruschke was with the team from Hannover 96 in 1954 in the final of the German championship, which won against 1. FC Kaiserslautern 5-1 and thus won the German championship for the second time. Together with Hannes Kirk , he made sure that the Kaiserslautern team only got one goal in this game. In total, Helmut Geruschke played 244 games in the Oberliga Nord, 225 of them from 1951 to 1960 for Hannover 96. He played his last game in the Oberliga on April 3, 1960 in a 2-0 home win against Eintracht Braunschweig. His career ended due to a gland injury.

1956 played Geruschke on November 21st in Zurich a B international match against Switzerland for the DFB. While his defender colleague Albert Keck was called to other B internationals, Geruschke stayed with this one appointment. Against AS Roma he was active on November 9, 1958 and January 7, 1959 in the two games in the 1958/60 Messe Cup. He was also scheduled for an international match, but could not take part because Hannover 96 had to play a catch-up game.

After his active career, he worked as a coach at FC Alfeld , among others . He died on August 2, 2010 in Klagenfurt, Austria.
