The T 174 is a wheeled excavator built in the VEB Weimar factory from 1965 . The loading mechanism was driven hydraulically, the slewing gear and chassis mechanically.
The basic model T 174
The T 174 is a further development of the T 172 and was widely used in agriculture , construction and other branches of industry in the GDR . The introduction of the T 174 began in 1965. The basic device (undercarriage with wheel running gear and uppercarriage with drive and control elements and the boom connection piece) could optionally be equipped for mechanical rope pull operation, hydraulic grab or hydraulic excavator operation.
Various attachment tools such as B. Deep excavation equipment or orange peel grabs can be mounted. The T 174 is equipped with all-wheel drive and differential lock as well as a self-locking hydraulic pendulum compensation.
The driving speed is 18 km / h.
Other models
M 174-1
In the first revised version, material economy measures were taken with regard to series production in order to make construction and subsequent maintenance more efficient.
T 174-2
Another version was available from 1972. The revision of the undercarriage and the installation of a hydraulic support brought significant changes. This made it possible to increase the load capacity to 2.5 t. In addition, an air pressure-assisted brake similar to that of the truck W50 was installed.
T 174-2A and T 174-2B
The T 174-2A was a further development of the T 174-2, which was equipped with a load capacity indicator, among other things. The later version T 174-2B received, in addition to an additional master brake cylinder and brake booster, an air-sprung driver's seat and a hydraulic oil cooler, a rotary servo with associated control valve and a truck trailer coupling. The T 174-2B was delivered almost exclusively in the well-known maize green and received the Weimar logo for the first time in addition to the Progress logo.
