The combine harvester progress E 514 is a self-propelled harvester built from 1982 to 1990 for threshing grain, oilseeds, pulses and maize. It is the successor to the Progress E 512 and was manufactured like this at VEB Kombinat Progress Agricultural Machinery . The successors to the E 514 are the E 524 combine harvester , as well as the modernized post- turning models MDW Erntemeister 514 , MDW Erntemeister 515 and MDW Erntemeister 521 .

The self-propelled combine harvester is available with cutting unit widths of 3.60 m, 4.20 m, 4.80 m and 5.70 m. The cutting height can be adjusted hydraulically between 70 and 1,200 mm. The cutting unit is relieved with two pressure springs. The reel with spring tines is made up of five parts and can be hydraulically adjusted horizontally and vertically. The speed of the reel can be set mechanically between 16 min −1 and 54 min −1 . For road transport, the header can be transported on a header trailer that is pulled by the thresher.

The threshing drum with eight beater bars has a width of 1,278 mm and a diameter of 600 mm. The speed of the threshing drum can be set variably from the driver's cab between 603 min −1 and 1,300 min −1 , with an additional gear between 296 min −1 and 1,300 min −1 . The concave has a wrap angle of 115 ° and has 14 concave strips, the total area of the concave is 0.81 m 2 . It has a moment adjustment, the deburring flaps can be adjusted from the outside. The residual grain separation takes place with four rack shakers, which have four drop levels, the shaker area is 5.2 m 2 , the total residual grain separation area is 6.45 m 2 . The torque adjustment is the variable distance between the threshing drum and the concave.

Cleaning is done with a pressure wind blower, which can be continuously regulated between 242 min −1 and 775 min −1 . The upper sieve is a flap sieve with a 1.85 m 2 sieve area. The lower sieve is an exchangeable perforated sieve with a sieve area of 1.17 m 2 . The grain is transported with the elevator to the grain tank on the roof of the thresher, which has a capacity of 36 hl. It can be transported from the grain tank to a trailer using a discharge pipe.

The progress E 514 has a mechanical drive and a three-speed gearbox with reverse gear. The driving speed can be selected continuously within the individual gears using a variator . The power is transmitted from the engine to the gearbox with a two-disc dry clutch. Only the front wheels are driven. As the motor comes Reihenvierzylindersaugdieselmotor IFA 4 VD 14.5 / 12-1 SRW used, consisting of 6.65 l of a power output of 85 kW at 2000 min -1 draws.

The E 514 is available both with a full-fledged driver's cab and with a simple driver's cab without a cab. Both variants have fully hydraulic steering of the rear wheels. In addition, it has an on-board computer that can be used to optimize utilization.

Remarks

  1. a b The torque adjustment is a mechanism with which the distance between the concave and the threshing drum can be adjusted in order to adapt the threshing system to different threshing material and harvesting conditions.
