Rolf Grimm

Rolf Grimm (born February 4, 1937 in Hanover ) is a German architect and former professor in the architecture department of the Hanover University of Applied Sciences , who became known through his art history work as the sculptor, painter and poet Gustav Eberlein .

Life

After graduating from the Friedrichsgymnasium in Kassel , Grimm studied architecture at the TH Hannover and the ETH Zurich . After initially working for the district president of Hanover , in 1972 he took over the regional planning department of the district president Hildesheim . In 1974 he moved to the Hanover University of Applied Sciences in Nienburg, where he worked as a professor in the fields of urban development, regional planning and building history. Since 1980 he has dedicated himself to researching, reviving and preserving the work of the artist Gustav Eberlein (1847–1926). In 1982 he founded Gustav Eberlein Research e. V. In 1983 he published Eberlein's first catalog raisonné. In 2015, Grimm was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit for his art-historical work . He lives in Hemmingen near Hanover and Spiekershausen , the birthplace of Gustav Eberlein. The fairground there has been named “Prof. Rolf Grimm Platz ”.
