Rolf Gutmann (Lawyer)

Rolf Ernst Deryck Gutmann (born 1949 in Schwenningen aN ) is a German lawyer , lecturer and specialist author in the field of immigration law , in particular the law of association for Turkish citizens .

Career

After graduating from high school in 1967 in Schorndorf , Gutmann completed an apprenticeship in banking and began studying law at the University of Tübingen in 1969 . In 1977 he was admitted to the bar , in 1994 the specialist lawyer for administrative law and in 1995 the doctorate at the University of Hamburg .

In 2002 Gutmann became a member of the specialist editorial team and in 2005 co-editor of the magazine Informationsbrief Ausländerrecht . In 2008 he was a lecturer at the Yeditepe University in Istanbul , where he in 2010 the title Honorary Professor ( honorary professorship ) and an honorary doctorate ( honorary doctorate ) were awarded.

Title dispute

After a competition law dispute over the question of whether or how Gutmann should be allowed to use the titles awarded in Turkey in Germany, the Stuttgart Higher Regional Court ruled on March 18, 2014 that both the professor title and the honorary doctorate each refer to a reference the lending institution must bear. Gutmann's constitutional complaint before the Constitutional Court for the State of Baden-Württemberg was rejected as clearly unfounded.
