Rolf Hennig

Rolf Hennig (born July 9, 1928 in Hamburg ; † March 14, 2016 ) was a German scientist, expert and specialist writer in the fields of forestry and hunting, civil weapons and shooting, as well as natural philosophy and history.

Live and act

Rolf Hennig was born on July 9, 1928 in Hamburg. He kept his place of residence in Hamburg for a long time, and since 1962 he has also moved to Norderstedt , in the Segeberg district (Schleswig-Holstein).

After military service, a two-year forest internship and high school diploma, he studied forestry and wood management as well as biology and philosophy at the University of Hamburg for ten semesters , but without ultimately obtaining a degree. Instead, he found attractive opportunities to work in a volunteer assistant with Franz Heske at the Federal Research Institute for Forestry and Wood Management (BFH), the management of the exhibition "Hunting and Sport Fishing" in Düsseldorf and in the specialist advice on the nature film Traces in the Snow .

He then became a freelance specialist writer in the fields of hunting, forestry, and civil weapons and shooting. Hennig is the author of around 30 books, including standard works such as Schwarzwild. Biology - Behavior - Hege and Hunt (1981) and The weapon expert examination in question and answer (1973), which experienced numerous editions. Pastures are also known yesterday, today and tomorrow. A position at the end of the 20th century for hunters and non-hunters (1990) as well as the consideration of Bismarck and nature (1998) on the relationship of Reich Chancellor Otto von Bismarck to hunting, forest and agriculture. In addition, Hennig has published more than 500 articles on hunting and hunting in specialist journals and compilations. In addition, he was co-editor of the specialist journal Forest Hygiene founded by Karl Gößwald for 30 years .

In addition, Rolf Hennig has always dealt with questions of natural philosophy , which has been the focus of his publications and activities since the early 1990s . He was strongly influenced by the theories of his teachers Pascual Jordan , Adolf Meyer-Abich and especially Franz Heske on the natural philosophical line of thought of the organic , which revolve very much around sustainability . These ideas, which he got to know during his internship at Heske at the BFH, can also be found in Hennig's writings. In 1990, on his initiative, the Society for Organics eV - Association for the Promotion of a Philosophy of Conservative Use of Nature was founded. In their events and the publications on organic matter , sustainability as a (survival) principle is cultivated, expanded and disseminated. The scientific management of the Society for Organics was in Hennig's hands. In order to spread his convictions, he also worked in many associations, especially associations for hunting, forestry and environmental protection .

Under the title A forester's house in the Sachsenwald. Memories of childhood and apprenticeship years , Rolf Hennig also published an autobiographical work in 1989. He lived in Norderstedt.
