Rolf Kloepfer
Rolf Kloepfer (born January 25, 1942 in Munich ) is a German Romance studies and film scholar with a focus on film semiotics . Kloepfer wrote the article film semiotics in Roland Posner's Handbuch der Semiotik (3 volumes).
Life
Kloepfer was born in Munich and attended school in Essen-Werden from 1949 to 1961 . He then studied from 1961 to 1966 at the University of Freiburg , at the Sorbonne in Paris and at the University in Cologne, the subjects of philosophy , German , Romance studies and economics . He began his professional activity in 1966 as a research assistant in Freiburg and was assistant professor at the TU Berlin from 1969 to 1971 . From 1971 until his retirement he was professor at the University of Mannheim . In May 2008, Kloepfer took part in the 5th Mannheim Round, a discussion on the subject of "Executive Board salaries - how much are top managers worth?" part.

- 1987–1995: Member of the supervisory board in various German companies and as a consultant for communication, applied semiotics, marketing.
- since 1975: Reviewer for the German Research Foundation , the Humboldt Foundation , the Volkswagen Foundation , the Daimler-Benz Foundation and several academies as well as various foreign universities.
- since 1999: Managing Director of the Foundation for Communication and Media Studies.
In the field of digital film research, his special professional achievement lies in the area of software for the analysis and presentation of audiovisual media ( AKIRA ).
