Rolf Linkohr (born April 11, 1941 in Stuttgart ; † January 5, 2017 ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life

After graduating from high school in 1960, Linkohr studied physics and physical chemistry at the universities of Stuttgart , Munich and Aberdeen as part of a scholarship from the European Molecular Biology Organization . He worked for Robert Bosch GmbH in Stuttgart-Feuerbach and Lavalette in Paris and did his doctorate on the kinetics of ion exchangers . In 1970 he became a research associate at Deutsche Automobil GmbH in Esslingen - Mettingen . There he was responsible for hydrogen storage and the development of new battery systems. In 1971 he joined IG Metall and was chairman of the works council for five years. Rolf Linkohr was a member of the Kerntechnischen Gesellschaft eV (KTG) .

Linkohr had been a member of the SPD since 1964. He was initially the spokesman for the Baden-Württemberg Young Socialists and a member of the Juso state board, then SPD district chairman in Stuttgart, chairman of the Social Democratic Solidarity Association in Stuttgart, member of the state board and member of the SPD party council. From 1979 to 2004 he was a member of the European Parliament . From 2005 to 2007 he was special advisor to the EU Commissioner for Energy and from 2005 to 2009 director of the European energy think tank Center for European Energy Strategy (CERES) in Brussels.
