Rolf Zick (born April 16, 1921 in Dransfeld ) is a German journalist .

Career

Zick comes from a family of teachers. In 1939 he passed his Abitur at Martino-Katharineum Braunschweig and was drafted into the Wehrmacht . As a flak commander, he experienced 70 air raids on Hanover. After returning from Soviet captivity in April 1948, Zick began his journalistic career as a local reporter in Göttingen . In 1960 he came to Hanover and from then on reported for decades on Lower Saxony state politics. In 1974 he founded the independent press office "Nordreport". He was editor-in-chief of the North Report. From 1971 to 1988 and from 1989 to 1990 he was chairman of the Lower Saxony state press conference. Rolf Zick has been honorary chairman of the Lower Saxony state press conference and the Hannover Press Club since 2011.

Zick's daughter Anne-Maria Zick continues the northern report, which is merged with the "Rundblick".

In 2011 he was given the highest award in Lower Saxony, the Lower Saxony State Medal , by Lower Saxony's Prime Minister David McAllister , because he had "achieved extraordinary things with his extensive journalistic work for the State of Lower Saxony".

In 2020 he finished his last book The Last Contemporary Witness.
