Roman Mawlanow ([ rɐˈman mɐvˈlanɐv ], also Roman Mavlanov , Russian Рома́н Мавла́нов ; * July 5, 1994 in Moscow ) is a Russian automobile racing driver . In 2014 he won the International GT Open . He also competed in Formula Renault 3.5 in 2014 .

Career

Mawlanow began his motorsport career at the age of 13 in karting, where he remained active until 2010. In 2011 he switched to formula racing and competed for the Boetti Racing Team in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup . He finished his debut season in 35th place overall. He also drove for the racing team in the Alpine Formula Renault . There he was 13th overall. In 2012 Mawlanow received a cockpit at Tech 1 Racing . In the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup he improved to 33rd place in the drivers' standings. He finished 15th in the Alpine Formula Renault.

In 2013 Mawlanow was mainly active in GT racing for Russian Bears Motorsport . In the International GT Open he won the GTS classification three times with Pol Rosell and finished the season in this together with Rosell in fourth place. He finished fifth in the Spanish GT Championship. In addition, Mawlanow took part in some Formula Renault races for RC Formula . In the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup he finished 29th. In the Northern European Formula Renault he achieved second place and finished the drivers' championship in 18th place. In 2014 Mawlanow was again active in GT and formula racing in parallel. In the International GT Open he now competed for Russian Bears Motorsport in the Super GT class. Together with Daniel Zampieri , he won three races and secured the championship title. He also took part in a race in the Blancpain Endurance Series for his racing team. In formula racing , Mawlanow competed for Zeta Corse in Formula Renault 3.5 in 2014 . While his teammate Roberto Merhi was third overall with 183 points, Mawlanow remained without points and reached 25th overall.
