The Romande Energie Holding SA , based in Morges is a western Swiss power company . The group of companies employs 725 people and in 2007 generated sales of 488 million Swiss francs. The Romande Energie Holding is listed on the Swiss Stock Exchange SWX Swiss Exchange listed . The company is majority owned by the Canton of Vaud and more than 200 municipalities in Vaud.
Field of activity
The group consists of the three business areas network operation , trade and environment . The subsidiary Romande Energie SA takes care of a significant part of the operative business .
The grid operation division comprises a 9,300 kilometer power grid with 3,260 substations and an annual production of around 500 GWh .
The trading division is responsible for buying and selling electricity produced by third parties. Romande Energie sold a total of around 2,670 GWh of electricity in 2007. The largest supplier with 1,112 GWh is EOS Holding , with which there is a long-term contract.
The Environment division, created in 2008, includes the rational use of energy, electricity generation from hydropower , electricity generation from renewable sources such as wind energy , solar energy , biomass , mini-hydropower and geothermal energy, as well as research and development projects in cooperation with the universities of applied sciences Lausanne and the University of Applied Sciences in Western Switzerland.
In addition, Romande Energie also holds various stakes in other companies, the most important of which is 28.72% in EOS Holding.
Romande Energie held a stake in the Brunsbüttel hard coal-fired power station until April 2010. In April 2010 Romande Energie announced together with Groupe E that they had sold their stake for economic and ecological reasons.
history
Romande Energie was formed in 1997 from the merger of the Compagnie Vaudoise des Forces Motrices des Lacs de Joux et de l'Orbe (FMJ) , founded in 1901 for the first cantonal electricity company in Switzerland , from 1954 Compagnie vaudoise d'électricité (CVE) and the Société founded in 1904 Romande d'Electricité . Today it is the fifth largest electricity supplier in Switzerland.
