Groupe E is a Swiss energy supply company with headquarters in Granges-Paccot ( Canton of Friborg ). The company was created on January 1, 2005 from the merger of Freiburgische Elektrizitätswerke (FEW) with Electricité Neuchâteloise SA (ENSA) and supplies 400,000 residents in the cantons of Friborg, Neuchâtel , Vaud and Bern as well as numerous business customers with electricity . Groupe E generates 40% of the 3 terawatt hours of energy distributed annually in its own production facilities and those owned jointly with third parties, which mainly include hydropower plants and thermal power plants . The rest is procured on the market. Groupe E Celsius, a company of the group, supplies its customers with more than 140 gigawatt hours of heat per year via around thirty district heating networks. This is transported over a network that extends over 50 kilometers.
The company also operates activities in the fields of engineering , energy efficiency (EcoSolutions, e-vision) and electromobility . In partnership with other companies, it is developing a network of charging stations for electric vehicles (MOVE). This already includes over 100 charging stations in Switzerland.
The company employs 1554 people. Of these, 647 work at Groupe E Connect, 68 at Groupe E plus sales outlets, 57 at Groupe E Entretec, 25 at Groupe E Greenwatt and 42 at Groupe E Celsius. Groupe E trains 168 apprentices together with the companies in the group of companies.
In 2013, the company was awarded the Suva Safety Prize for its behavior in relation to occupational safety.

The group operates seven dams and hydroelectric power plants on the Saane and at one of its tributaries, the Jogne : the dam of Rossinière and the power station of Montbovon , the dam and the power plant of Lessoc , the dam of Montsalvens and the power plant of Broc , the dam Rossens and the power station of Hauterive, the dam on the Magere Au and the power station of Ölberg as well as the dam and the power station of Schiffenen. The company also owns the Saint-Sulpice power plant in the canton of Neuchâtel .
Groupe E also owns a thermal power plant in Cornaux (Neuchâtel) and over 50 solar systems . It also operates around forty district heating networks . The company holds stakes in large hydropower and thermal power plants as well as in various systems for generating electricity from new renewable energies ( small hydropower , wind power , biomass , photovoltaics ) throughout Switzerland .
Power distribution
More than 11,000 kilometers of low, medium and high voltage lines ensure the transport of 3 terawatt hours of electricity per year.
Energy services
Together with the companies in the group, Groupe E provides services in the fields of electrical installations , energy efficiency , renewable energies , electromobility , engineering and household appliances . In order for electric cars a unified network of charging stations set up, Groupe E in June 2017 together with the energy service companies Alpiq , EBM and EWB , the MOVE Mobility AG founded. In Switzerland, MOVE has more than 800 of its own charging stations, and thousands more can be used throughout Europe.

Electrobroc
Electrobroc is an electricity and energy information center in Broc . It is located in the middle of an operating hydropower plant and offers an overview of energies, a wide range of information about the production, distribution and consumption of electricity as well as demonstrations with high voltage effects. Visiting the energy information center is free.
Les Roues de l'Areuse
The open-air museum "Les Roues de l'Areuse" is located at the source of the Areuse in Saint-Sulpice (NE). It comprises two hydropower plants that were built and repaired in 1886, as well as the power plant currently in operation. The local industrial past is brought to life on a tour along the watercourse, in the intact nature around the source of the Areuse, as well as through myths and legends of the region. Visiting the open-air museum is free.
