Romeo Manzoni
Romeo Manzoni (born September 29, 1847 in Arogno , † November 23, 1912 in Lugano ) was a Swiss philosopher , university professor , researcher , politician and publicist .
Life
Romeo Manzoni was born to Alessandro Manzoni from Arogno and Fulvia Giovanetti. He attended high school in Lugano, then he studied from 1867 to 1869 at the scientific-literary academy in Milan , where he met Ruggero Bonghi and Ausonio Franchi . He completed his philosophy and literature studies in Turin in 1870 .
For a few years he taught philosophy in Reggio Calabria and Porrentruy, then returned to Ticino and founded the Istituto internazionale femminile in Maroggia . As a free thinker , ideologue of radicalism and pioneer of the liberal coup d'état of 1890 in Ticino, he co-founded the Unione radicale-sociale ticinese in 1897 , which called for the realization of the secular state and the non-denominational school.
As a politician in 1890 he was involved in the Ticino putsch against the conservative cantonal government and he was 1901 and 1905 Ticino Grand Council, and 1895-1902 and 1905-1912 National Council (until 1902 for the liberal-radical party). He distinguished himself in Bern through his forays in favor of Italianità and through his anti-militarism .
