Romolo Costa

Romolo Costa (born February 26, 1897 in Asti , † January 1, 1965 in Rome ) was an Italian actor and voice actor .

Life

After training as an electrical engineer, Costa devoted himself entirely to theater. First he was hired as a supporting actor, then as a teenage hero and after the end of the Second World War he appeared alongside numerous stage stars such as Antonio Gandusio , Ruggero Ruggeri , Andreina Pagnani , Carlo Ninchi and Ugo Tognazzi . Italian cinema discovered Costa as a character actor at the beginning of the sound film age and offered him numerous roles until 1945; after that only a handful of engagements followed. In the 1930s and 1940s, he was also one of the most popular voice actors and the Italian voice of film stars such as Warner Baxter , Ronald Colman , Gary Cooper , Pierre Blanchar , Clark Gable , Melvyn Douglas , Fredric March , Fred MacMurray and Pat O'Brien .

Costa also appeared in the documentary Fantasmi di Cinecittè , made in 1941, and after his film career turned to television, where he remained busy until his death.
