Romualdas Ozolas

Romualdas Ozolas (born January 31, 1939 in Joniškėlis , Pasvalys Rajongemeinde , † April 6, 2015 in Vilnius ) was a Lithuanian philosopher and politician , Deputy Prime Minister (1990-91) and Vice-President of the Lithuanian Parliament (1996-99).

Life

After graduating from high school in Bazilijonai in the district of Šiauliai in 1957, he graduated from 1957 to 1962 with a degree in philosophy at the Faculty of History and Philology, and from 1968 to 1973 an aspirant course at Vilnius University . From 1973 to 1989 he taught at the university. From 1965 to 1968 he worked as the responsible secretary and then as department editor of the cultural magazine Kultūros barai .

From 1975 to 1980 he worked in the Secretariat of the Council of Ministers of Soviet Lithuania . From 1980 to 1989 he was deputy editor-in-chief of the book publisher Mintis . From 1989 Romualdas Ozolas was a member of the Supreme Soviet and Seimas '. From 1989 to 1990 he was a deputy to the Supreme Council of Soviet Lithuania. From 1990 he was a member of the Seimas. From 1990 to 1991 he was Deputy Prime Minister of Lithuania Kazimira Prunskienė in the Prunskienė cabinet . From 1996 to 1999 he was Vice-President of Parliament.

From 1973 to 1990 Ozolas was a member of the CPSU . From 1988 he was a member of Lietuvos Persitvarkymo Sąjūdis , until 1990 member of the Sąjūdis initiative group. From 1989 to 1990 he was a member of Lietuvos komunistų partija . From 1992 he was a member of Lietuvos centro judėjimas , from 1993 of Lietuvos centro sąjunga (LCS), honorary president of LCS. From 2012 he headed the National Movement Už Lietuvą Lietuvoje .
