Ronald Brachmann (born August 6, 1955 in Lutherstadt Eisleben ) is a German politician ( SPD ). From 2006 to 2016 he was a member of the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt , to which he already belonged from 1998 to 2002.

Life and work

After taking his Abitur in 1974, Brachmann studied law. In 1981 he received his doctorate as Dr. jur. From 1981 to 1984 he was a judge at the Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg district court . He then worked as a research assistant until 1988. In 1989 he became deputy head of the administrative law department in the GDR Ministry of Justice. The following year he became head of the judicial reform working group and then head of the policy department in the Ministry of Justice of the GDR. On the GDR side, he was a member of the negotiating delegation for the Unification Treaty. Brachmann worked from 1991 to 1998 and after leaving the state parliament from 2002 to 2006 as head of department (Ministerialrat) in the Ministry of Justice of Saxony-Anhalt .

Ronald Brachmann is married and has four children.

In 1990 Brachmann joined the SPD. From 1993 until the merger of the district associations in 2006, he was a member of the SPD district committee in Wernigerode . Since October 2006 he has been a member of the board of the newly formed SPD district association Harzkreis and was its chairman from 2013 to 2016.

He belonged to the state parliament in the 3rd , 5th and 6th electoral terms . He was chairman of the Committee on Law and Constitution in the 5th electoral term and chairman of the Committee on Home Affairs and Sport in the 6th electoral term. In addition, he was the legal policy spokesman for his parliamentary group in all electoral terms.
