Ronald Fraser (actor)
Ronald Gordon Fraser (born April 11, 1930 in Ashton-under-Lyne , † March 13, 1997 in London ) was a British actor .
Life
Fraser came into acting while serving in the Army with the Seaforth Highlanders in North Africa. In 1953 he took acting studies at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art , after which he joined the theater company of Sir Donald Wolfit .
In 1954, Fraser made his film and television debuts. In the following years, the short, stocky actor with the distinctive face seemed predestined for dignitaries of the British imperial power, who were characterized by strong human features. Especially his character of Basil "Badger" Allenby-Johnson in the television series The Misfits made him known to a wide audience.
Fraser has played in a wide variety of genres from satires (After) and adventure films ( The Flight of the Phoenix ) to dramas (Sister George Must Die) and war films ( Too Late for Heroes - Accomplish to Perish , The Wild Geese Are Coming ) to literary adaptations and comedies ( Get Charlie Tully) .
You could see him on television. a. next to Jeremy Irons in the multi-part reunion with Brideshead (based on Evelyn Waugh ), the youth series The Five Friends (based on Enid Blyton ) as well as the series Mit Schirm, Charme und Melone and The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones .
From 1956 to 1964, Ronald Fraser was married to actress Elizabeth Howe.
He died of internal bleeding on March 13, 1997 at the age of 66.
