Ronald Schild (born July 25, 1970 in Saarbrücken ) has been managing director of MVB Marketing- und Verlagsservice des Buchhandels and BBG Börsenverein Beteiligungsgesellschaft (to which Frankfurter Buchmesse GmbH also belongs), both subsidiaries of the Börsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandels , since 2006 . Schild is also Director of MVB US Inc. (New York) and Metabooks Ltda. (Sao Paulo).

Live and act

In the first half of the 1990s, Ronald Schild studied business administration at Saarland University , in Nancy and at the University of Strathclyde . After initial positions in product management for fast moving consumer goods and IT hardware in the Quandt Group and Lexmark , Schild founded the consulting company EMB Electronic Media & Business AG together with five partners in 1999, which he led as CEO until the end of 2004 . As a result, he introduced the Merchants @ sales program at Amazon Deutschland GmbH , which he later managed together with the Marketplace department.

In 2006 Schild moved to the Börsenverein group. Under his aegis, the specialist publisher MVB became a digital platform provider. Schild also repositioned MVB internationally: in 2017 branches were established in Sao Paulo, Brazil and New York, USA. MVB provides services for the book industry, e.g. the directory of deliverable books (VLB), the digital preview VLB TIX, publishes the trade magazines Börsenblatt and Buchjournal and is the ISBN agency for Germany.

Schild is also involved in questions of international standardization. He is Chairman of the International ISBN Agency and Board Member at Editeur. Schild was significantly involved in the revision of the ISBN standard as well as the establishment of the new product group system "Topic".

Schild is a member of the jury of the German Self-Publishing Prize and of the start-up competition ContentShift.

Schild was honorary chairman of the Zwingenberger Pro Kind e. V. There he was responsible for the new construction and expansion of the Zwingenberger Zwerge crèche, the founding of the family center famizz and the supervision of the pupils at the Melibokus School.

criticism

Controversy arose again and again about the MVB product libreka, a distribution platform for e-books. Schild was criticized for not taking sufficient account of the interests of the member companies of the Börsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandels . libreka was sold to the Thuringian company Linienwert in 2015.
