Roque Germán Olsen Fontana (born September 9, 1925 in Sauce de Luna , Entre Ríos , † June 15, 1992 in Seville ) was an Argentine football player and coach.

Career

Olsen's playing career began in 1949 with the Argentine club CA Tigre . A year later he moved to Racing Club Avellaneda , which had won the Argentine championship the previous year. After only 15 games for this club, Olsen went to Europe for Real Madrid . He played at Real Madrid for seven years, during which he won three Spanish championships , two Copa Latina and two European championship cups. With 60 goals in 110 league games, Olsen is one of the most successful goalscorers in Real Madrid history. He ended his career at the age of 34 in 1959 with FC Córdoba .

The latter club was also Olsen's first coaching station, which he helped to move up to the Primera División in 1962 . He then coached Deportivo La Coruña and Real Zaragoza before he was coach of FC Barcelona in 1965 . Barcelona were just going through a transition phase in which many new and young players (like Carles Rexach ) had to be integrated into the team. Olsen won the 1965/66 trade fair cup in his first season at Barcelona , and they finished third in the league. After the 1966/67 season he was fired and was coach of Real Zaragoza the following season. He later coached nor the Sevilla FC , the FC Elche , Celta Vigo and several times UD Las Palmas .
