Rosanna Tavares
Rosanna Tavares (born November 7, 1961 in Nanuque ( Minas Gerais / Brazil ); † October 9, 2006 in Belo Horizonte ) was a Brazilian singer, percussionist and guitarist. She was an artist particularly valued in Europe, made famous in the duo Rosanna & Zélia .
Life
Rosanna Tavares loved to sing as a child and took part in her first singing competitions when she was eight. In 1974 her family relocated from the Bahian border to Itaúna near Belo Horizonte , where they quickly got in touch with the diverse music scene in the capital of Minas Gerais. That is how she met Zélia Fonseca , with whom she played music for 30 years, interrupted only while studying dentistry. The two came to Portugal in 1989 and discovered that their music was very successful in Europe. Their ways led via France and Finland to Germany, where they finally settled in Frankfurt am Main in 1993settled down. You have worked with many musicians from the Latin American and jazz scenes, including a. Dino Saluzzi , Howard Levy , Katharina Franck , Shantel , Angela Frontera and Ivan Santos . The last two years of her life were determined by the fight against cancer, but she continued to perform and was still composing in the last few weeks.
