Rose Tattoo is the debut album by Australian hard rock band Rose Tattoo . it was first released in 1978 through Albert Productions in Australia, but was then licensed for the European and US market and re-released in 1980 under the title Rock 'n' Roll Outlaw .

History of origin

Rose Tattoo was founded in 1975 and made various appearances in Sydney. The band was discovered in 1978 by producers George Young and Harry Vanda and invited to Albert Studios in Sydney, where they recorded the first album largely live. The album was initially only released in Australia because Albert Productions did not have a distribution deal. In Australia, the band subsequently acquired a controversial image as outlaws and rowdies, among other things through their energetic performances, during which the singer Angry Anderson often collapsed and had to be transported off the stage. In addition, the band chose controversial venues, including prisons. The breakthrough in the home country came with the single Bad Boy for Love , which was released in 1978.

In January 1981 the debut album was released via Carrere Records in France, where 50,000 units could be sold. In April of the same year it was released in the United Kingdom under the title Rock 'n' Roll Outlaw (the first A-side title ). The band became known in Great Britain through appearances in the opening act of Rainbow and with the almost simultaneous release of the successor Assault & Battery the band also made their breakthrough in the UK.
