Rosemarie Seidel
Rosemarie Seidel (née Gomolla) (born April 25, 1940 in Beuthen (Upper Silesia) ; † February 21, 1998 in Altdorf (Lower Bavaria) ) was a German table tennis player . She won the German championship twice .
National successes
Coming from TSV Salzgitter and PSV Braunschweig, Rosemarie Seidel played for Eintracht Frankfurt in the 1961/62 season , after which she moved to Duisburg for DSC Kaiserberg . After winning the Hessen Championship in 1962, she won the West German Individual Championship three times from 1963 to 1965.
In the national ranking tournament she won in 1961 and 1970, 1st place 2nd place in 1963, it was the first time German champion in Lübeck. She repeated this success in Osnabrück in 1966. In 1970 she became runner-up.
With the team from Kaiserberg she won the German championship eight times in a row for the first time in 1963 and then from 1965 to 1972. In 1966, the team won the European Champion Clubs' Cup after finishing second in this competition a year earlier. In 1972 she won the German Cup with Kaiserberg. In the mid-1970s she moved to the DJK Altdorf.
In the ranking of the German Table Tennis Association , she was ranked 3rd in 1961, 1966 and 1970.
International activities
Between 1960 and 1963, Seidel made three appearances in the national team. At the World Championships in 1959 and 1969 she only played in the individual competitions, at the 1961 World Cup she was also used in the women's team.
In 1962 she reached the quarter-finals at the European Championships in doubles.
Honors
In 1967 she received the Silver Laurel Leaf , in 1969 the WTTV awarded her the Golden Badge of Honor.
Private
Rosemarie Seidel was the sister of the table tennis players Ernst and Herbert Gomolla . In 1963 she married Eberhard Seidel and had a son. Because of her sensitivity to light, she often played with special glasses. Most recently she lived in Altdorf near Landshut .
