Rosemarie Stratmann-Döhler

Rosemarie Stratmann-Döhler (* 1934 in Ulm ) is a German art historian. She is a specialist in arts and crafts , especially the history of furniture .

Life

She grew up in the Electoral Palatinate and Wiesbaden . At the Institute for Translation and Interpreting (IÜD) at the University of Heidelberg, she completed training as an interpreter . She practiced this profession for three years in Heidelberg and Solingen . She then studied five years at the École du Louvre , where she graduated in 1965 . The focus of her studies was on interior decoration and furniture from the 17th to 19th centuries. During her studies, she worked as the Chargée de Mission at the Palace of Versailles , where she took the Conférencière exam for the Palaces of Versailles and Trianon. From 1965 to 1971 she studied art history at the University of Heidelberg , where she received her doctorate in 1971 with a thesis on the cabinet maker Jean-François Oeben .

In 1971 she went to the Badisches Landesmuseum Karlsruhe , which she hired in 1975 as head of the furniture department. She looked after furniture and other inventory of the castles in Baden . In addition, she devoted herself to the history of Karlsruhe Palace and the organization and design of numerous regional and art history exhibitions. In 1998 she was given responsibility for graphics, paintings and ceramics from the Renaissance to Historicism in the palace administration of the regional finance office in Karlsruhe. In the same year she became the second deputy director of the Badisches Landesmuseum. In 1999 she retired.
